Amritsar, May 27

92.7 BIG FM, an radio network, kick off its traffic awareness campaign called “Keep calm, follow traffic rules and be a Honhaar Singh” here on Tuesday. The idea is to find the people, who religiously follow traffic rules, gratify them and award them with the title “Honhaar Singh” of Amritsar.

The campaign is being organised in association with city-base NGOs Voice of Amritsar and Eco Amritsar. Volunteer teams from Avaas Lifestyle Hotel and Millennium School will also carry out this campaign for a month. Every week their teams will go to different places in the city facing traffic bottlenecks and signals to find “Honhaar Singh”.

The campaign started at Novelty Chowk traffic signal and is expected to cover Sadar Thana, 4S Chowk and several other areas. It has also found support with the traffic police and the administration.

Speaking about the unique initiative, BIG FM station head Aman Sharma said, “Traffic issues are increasing day by day in the city. We have heterogeneous traffic, little enforcement of no-entry timings and huge problem of drunk driving. It is very important to keep reminding people of their responsibilities.” Five winners will be announced every week during the campaign, motivating residents to follow traffic rules in the process.
