Activists of the BJYM, led by district president Salil Kapoor, submitted a memorandum at the DC office. He said Capt Amarinder Singh, as announced in its manifesto, had not kept its promises regarding employment.

He said the Congress, in its manifesto, had announced unemployment allowance of Rs 2,500 per month till job was provided to those registered with employment bureaus. He said a month had passed since the government was formed in the state. However, there is no word from the government over this move.

He said eye-catching promises were made to electorates, especially youth, to attract them to vote for the Congress.

He said the Congress had announced Shaheed Bhagat Singh Employment Generation scheme for youth. The government is now silent over it, he said.

Meanwhile, in a separate programme, a delegation of the Demoratic Teachers’ Front (DTF), comprising its leaders Ashwani Awasthi, Germanjit Singh, Sukhraj Singh and Lakhwinder Singh Gill, submitted a memorandum at the DC office.

DTF general secretary Lakhwinder Singh Gill said the government must release remaining scholarship and uniforms to students and provide free of cost books without delay. “Computer teachers, clerks and class fourth employees must be appointed at primary schools. Seminars must not be held during the time of admission and examination as it hampers the smooth conduct of such process,” he added.

All categories of teachers, including SSA, RMSA, CSS (486 Hindi teachers), Sikhya providers, EGS, AIESTR, IEV, IERT, vocational trainers, Adarsh School and Meritorious School, must be offered full pay scale and be regularised under the Education Department.
