Buddha’s paintings exhibition inaugurated at art gallery

A solo exhibition of artist Priyanka Sharma was inaugurated by Local Bodies Minister Anil Joshi at the Art Gallery here on Sunday. The three-day exhibition is the first solo show of an artist.

Priyanka, who has been pursuing art form almost a decade, specialises in realistic art. The exhibition consists of 18 paintings based on the theme of “Buddha” is titled “Welcoming self”. Priyanka says, “It’s a series based on Buddha and his teachings. I have used his teachings and principles, fusing them into everyday elements.” The paintings, oil on canvas, use Buddha as a central element, with environment, landscape and abstract subjects merged to bring out spirituality in art.

The artist has also used Buddha in fetsivities, traditional folk items like phulkaris and heritage elements.

Several artists , including Dr Baldev Gambhir and Neera Sharma, Principal, DAV Public School, were also present at the inauguration.
