A state-of-the-art auditorium was inaugurated by Industries and Commerce Minister Madan Mohan Mittal at Hindu College here today.
While welcoming the chief guest, College Principal, Dr PK Sharma, thanked him for accepting their invitation to grace the occasion. He also expressed his gratitude to Satpal Mahajan, who had remained president of Hindu Sabha for 26 years.
While reading annual report of the college, the Principal highlighted achievements of students in academics, sports and youth festival. He said college students had bagged seven merit positions and 17 distinctions in final exams held by Guru Nanak Dev University. College players played in Ranji Trophy and other competitions, he added.
Sudhir Mahajan, Chairman, Hindu College Governing Council, welcomed the chief guest. He also expressed his gratitude to the minister for accepting their invitation.
Madan Mohan Mittal thanked the management of Hindu College for inviting him on the occasion. He also lauded efforts of students in bagging merit positions and distinctions in exams and various competitions. He exhorted students to make right selection of course and career, which he said could prove a turning point in their lives.
He asked students to take such decisions carefully and in accordance with their true calling, failing which they would lose focus. Mittal said if students take wise decisions nothing could stop their growth. He also honoured merit holders and NSS activists of the college.
Impressed by efforts of the college, Mittal announced a donation of Rs 5 lakh to the institution. A colourful cultural programme was also presented on the occasion.
