The Rani Jhansi Society and the Shakti Mahila Sahayta Kendra, the two social organisations working under the patronage of former health minister and senior BJP leader Laxmi Kanta Chawla, organised a special camp for screening of drug addicts in the Gurjarpura area here today.
The camp was organised with the help of Swami Vivekananda Drug De-addiction Centre and district health department. During the camp, over 100 people were motivated to take medical help from the available medical facilities to shun the habit of drugs.
Speaking on the occasion, Chawla said their efforts to check the sale and availability of drugs in the Aangarh area had borne fruit after which they have turned their attention towards Gurjarpura where a large number of people are using drugs.
She said they were also running a tailoring school in Gurjarpura to empower women in the area. DCP Harpreet Singh, Manjit Singh Chawla, Dr Chinki Thukral, Dr Pavneet Singh, Dr Gurpinder Singh, Dr Avtar Singh Riar, Dr Arjinder Saggu and Dr Sukrant Sharma rendered services during the camp.
