The Assembly elections have brought creativity of political activists and their supporters out as they are coining interesting and entertaining slogans to woo voters.
One such slogan ‘Jhandi, Dandi Akali di, Vote Pakki Lalli Di’ (flags of SAD, but votes for Lalli) coined by residents of Ram Diwali Hindua village in the Majitha constituency tops the chart. The slogan was coined by a resident of the village when people assured brother of Congress candidate Sukjinder Raj Singh Lalli Majithia of supporting him.
However, as the entire village had flags of Shiromani Aakli Dal (SAD) and campaigners were skeptical, a resident of the village used the one-liner to reassure them. Meanwhile, others are using songs to touch an emotional chord of voters.
A song, ‘Tumne apnaa faraz nibahea, Ab humari bari hai’ is frequently played in political gatherings in support of the BJP candidate from the North constituency to remind people of their duty to repay (vote) him for development projects brought by him.
In the South constituency, too, the slogan, ‘Chit vi teri, patt v teri, Akali ticket vi teri, Congress ticket vi teri’ (head is yours, tail is yours, SAD ticket is yours and now Congress ticket is yours too) and ‘Badlav or Dal-Badlu’ have been coined by opponents to hit at Congress candidate Inderbir Singh Bolaria.
These slogans are keeping voters humoured and also making them know the strengths and weaknesses of their respective candidates in a simpler way.
