CBSE comes up with exemptions for students with disabilities

In order to make students and school heads aware of the exemptions for persons with disabilities, the CBSE has sent a list of exemptions to be followed for such students in course of study and examination.

These will be applicable from the session 2019 onwards. The students having disability certificates issued by government hospitals or any competent authority will be given a scribe each and extra time during examination. In case of scribe, a student can have more than one scribe and can get it changed. An assistant superintendent has to supervise the examination and the scribe fee will be paid by the CBSE, the instructions read.

Portable video magnifier is also allowed for visually-impaired candidates. Moreover, a separate column is provided on the title page of the answer book for disabled. In case of student needs a computer, it has to be provided only after a certificate has been issued by registered medical practitioners suggesting use of computer facility for examination.

The use of computer has to be restricted only to typing answers. In case a student is bringing their own computer, there must be no internet connection. A student can also opt for having a scribe to read, but that shall only be restricted to read the paper.
