AMRITSAR: EcoAmritsar, a city-based non-government organisation (NGO), is going to celebrate 440th Amritsar Foundation Day on June 27.

EcoAmritsar, a city-based non-government organisation (NGO), is going to celebrate 440th Amritsar Foundation Day on June 27.

An array of activites are going to be organised to mark the day under the NGO’s banner in which activities such as tree plantation, public meetings will also be held. The city was founded by Fourth Sikh Guru Ram Dass.

Gunbir Singh, chairman, EcoAmritsar, said: “We have been celebrating the day for the past five years and this year is no different. We will be having a procession in which people from all walks of life will take part. Different organisations will be helping us to achieve our goals.”

“A number of other city-based NGOs, including Voice of Amritsar and Amritsar Vikas Manch, will be taking part in the celebrations. The aim is to make residents realise the value of the city and how they should maintain it.” The team has also asked the residents to come join the social media and participate in various events. A special Walk for Amritsar is also being held on June 27, beginning fromMai Sewa Bazaar of the city to the Ram Bagh Gardens. — TNS
