AMRITSAR: Panic gripped the Khandwala area in Chheharta when a charred body was found on a roadside here this morning.

Panic gripped the Khandwala area in Chheharta when a charred body was found on a roadside here this morning. Following the information, the Chheharta police immediately reached the spot to investigate the incident.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased appeared to be an unidentified ragpicker who was sitting near a fire. His body accidentally caught fire which led to the incident. Arun Sharma, SHO, Chheharta police, said further investigations were under progress. He said his body was kept in the dead house for 72 hours for identification.
