The holy city is all set to be connected by air to Turkey. This will be the fourth international connectivity after Birmingham in England, Ashgabat in Turkmenistan and Dubai in the UAE.

Online travel company MakeMyTrip.com has announced the launch of holiday packages to Turkey with chartered flights from Amritsar.

The chartered flight package is a first-of-its-kind initiative in Punjab. The all-inclusive package will be operational from May 2015 at a special promotional price of Rs 84,990 only.

Punjab has emerged as a growing market for outbound holidays from India. The company has four stores in Jalandhar, Chandigarh, Moga and Ludhiana and will shortly open an offline store in Amritsar.

Mohit Gupta, chief business and marketing officer, MakeMyTrip, said Turkey, the land of exquisite weaves, magical monuments, exotic markets and delectable kebabs would come closer to Amritsar.

He said Turkey with its incredible landscapes, natural wonders and a fascinating culture has seen a heightened interest from Indian travellers and is, therefore, a key destination for summer 2015.

Turkey offers a variety of experiences, including beaches, sporting activities, some of the world’s most important ancient monuments, stunning scenic beauty and a delicious and varied national cuisine -- the experiences that can be availed of by travellers.
