Amritsar, December 15

Members of the Amritsar Chemist Association staged a protest at the wholesale medicine market in Katra Sher Singh here today. The protester alleged that the Sales Tax Department was harassing them. They said the department had confiscated a large number of medicines, which were to be delivered to chemists 20 days ago.

Association president Rajesh Soi said, “Many medicines are required to be stored at a particular temperature. We believe that these medicines have not been stored properly by the department.” He said the department had neither returned the stocks nor issued any notice justifying the seizure.
