Dr Sukhwinder Singh, an acupuncture specialist from the city, along with four other Indian acupuncture experts were selected by the Acupuncture Science Association to attend an international conference on acupuncture and regenerative medicine organised by the Pakistan Acupuncture Council held in Lahore, Pakistan, on April 24.
Dr Sukhwinder Singh, director, Guru Kirpa Acupuncture Centre; Dr Inderjit Singh Dhingra from Dr DN Kotnis Hospital, Ludhiana; Dr RK Tuli from Apollo Hospital, New Delhi; Dr Poonam and Dr Mallika presented their scientific papers on facial paralysis, autism, cerebral palsy and other neurological disorders in children and role of acupuncture in emergencies during the conference.
Dr Sukhwinder, who presented his paper on facial palsy, claimed that: “Acupuncture plays a major role in managing hopeless cases as cerebral palsy, mental retardation, paralysis epilepsy and other muscular and neurological disorders.” This type of health-related exchanges would help build bonds between the two countries, he said. Dr Inderjit Singh Dhingra presented his paper on cerebral palsy in children and expressed his desire to work with acupuncture specialists of South East Asian countries and share knowledge with each other.
He said free camps would be organised in Amritsar and Ludhiana for disabled children who would be treated by acupuncture and regenerative medicine. — TNS
