City boy bags second position in chess c’ship

A Class VI student of Mount Litera Zee School, Durvish Khurana, has secured second position in the district chess championship in the under-11 age group.

He participated in the open championship held here recently. He has been getting coaching from Balwinder Singh Heera for the past over two years.

He stood first in the under-12 and second in the under-10 categories in the Inter-School Premiere League held here in December last year. He has been participating in many other chess championships.

His elder sister Mehak Khurana is also a keen chess player. She won the district chess championship in 2015.
