“It’s a lifetime opportunity for me. It has been great to work with such a celebrated team,” says the young aspiring actor. A civil engineer, Apinderdeep’s interest towards creative field developed after he participated and won Mr Turban in 2011 and was the grand finalist at Mr Singh and Kaur three years later.

“Being a Sikh model was one of my achievements as there weren’t many known Sikh models and even today there aren’t.” He subsequently featured in Punjabi music videos and also worked in Punjabi movie Kirdar-e-Sardar.

Apinderdeep has been fiddling with being in front of camera as a student. “My friends were all creatively inclined and we have made few short films and videos, in which I acted as well. So, I never trained professionally but had some head start.”

But his big break came with Battle of Saragarhi and he will also be seen in upcoming biopic Gold starring Akshay Kumar, based on life of hockey legend Dhyan Chand. “There are lot of openings for Punjabi actors now in industry and being a turbaned Sikh is no more a limitation,” he says.
