City good for launch of new phones, says Panasonic mkt head

With the increase in demand for smartphones, Amritsar has emerged as an important market for Panasonic in the North. The international company is looking to further enhance the quality of its relationships and engagements with distribution partners here and thereby reach out to more customers.
This was stated by Pankaj Rana, business head, mobility division, Panasonic, here today.
“While metros are important, the real growth lies in Tier I and II markets. Amritsar having its recognition at global level due to the Golden Temple has showcased good growth and it is a very important market for Panasonic,” he said.
Panasonic aims to expand its product portfolio and distribution chain in the country. The company plans to spend Rs 200 crore on marketing campaigns this year. Striving to deliver unmatched performance and fulfil customer expectations, Panasonic plans to launch 25 smartphones this year.
More than half of these mobiles will be launched before Diwali. There will be festive offers for customers on Dhanteras and Diwali. Panasonic India expects its revenues from mobile phones to more than double to Rs 2,500 crore by the end of this fiscal.
India being the global headquarter for Panasonic’s mobility business operates as a hub for outside markets, including Nepal, Sri Lanka, UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, Saudi Arabia and Egypt, among others.
