With the onset of summer, tinted glass in cars have made a comeback. In order to check it, the city police have launched a drive, challaning a number of vehicles besides peeling off black films.

The Supreme Court has imposed a ban on the use of black films of any Visual Light Transmission (VLT) or any other material (such as curtains or mesh) upon safety glasses, window screens and side glasses of all vehicles, irrespective of the percentage of visual light permitted or blocked, throughout the country.

However, a number of four-wheelers with black films having VIP and police stickers can be seen plying on roads with impunity. Sometimes these vehicles are also used by anti-social elements to run away after committing crimes. Private buses are no exception. A majority of these buses belong to major transporters and political leaders, that’s why traffic cops adopt a soft approach while dealing with them. Even cars with police stickers and tinted glasses can be spotted easily.

Traffic cops put up nakas at various chowks and challan the offenders using black film against the rules.
