City’s 12-year-old folk singer in India’s Got Talent show

City’s surprising and refreshing entry into this season of India’s Got Talent, 12-year-old Nand, impresses instantly with his cute smile and natural swag, or in civilized words, charm. The young folk and sufi singer also surprises with the intensity of his singing and the sheer pitch of his voice. But that’s what got him in?
He says, “Actually, it was the blessings of my parents and Almighty.” He knocks you with his humility as well.
So, a complete package for success in the reality television arena, we ask? “The show is all about your talent and mine is singing. I performed on a Punjabi folk song and then a Bollywood song. Judges said that I sang like Baba Bulleh Shah, which was all I could ask for. This is big for me,” he says cheerfully.
The young talented singer belongs to a village near Amritsar. His father Dildar is also a folk artiste. Carrying forward his family’s tradition, Nand started singing since he was three-year-old.
He says, “I always practiced with my father. My mother was so happy when I told her I got through the first round. She started crying. Now, I want to work hard to go a long way in the show.”
Meanwhile, the youngster also wants to sing some pop-culture songs, if given a chance. He says, “Though I love sufi music and will always carry forward its cause, I also like the popular Punjabi songs and hope to become a playback singer one day.”
As for now, Nand is happy to pose for shutterbugs, enjoying his day in sun and aspires to compete well on the show.
