Mehak Gupta, a skater from the city, won two gold and a silver medal during the school state skating championship held in Patiala from December 5 to 8.

The champion skater, who also holds world records, won a gold medal in 1,000 m race and a gold in 300 m time trail in the under 14 category. She won a silver in the 500 m race. Mehak is happy that she has closed the year on a winning streak.

“I am glad to have performed well in the championship and will hope to continue the good streak next year as well. Recently, I also won a silver during the national sports tournament of DAV schools,” she said.

She is one of the rising stars of roller skating and has made a world record by skating from the Company Bagh to the Wagah border in the fastest time at the age of nine years. Her brother Chirag Gupta is also a skater.
