In a letter addressed to Capt Amarinder Singh, SGPC president Kirpal Singh Badungar said, “Under the Sikh Gurdwara Act 1925, various historic gurdwaras are under the control of the SGPC. Recently, various frivolous committees have cropped up, which have encroached upon the gurdwara land.”

Demanding stern directions to the authorities concerned to take action, he said 161 acre land belonging to Gurdwara Saheb Bhai Rupa at Bathinda had been occupied by a local langar committee, whereas the land had been allocated to the SGPC as per the directions of the Supreme Court.
