Amritsar, January 23
An Independent candidate from the Amritsar North constituency, Parbodh Chander Bali, has filed a complaint against the BJP candiddate from the constituency, Anil Joshi, with the returning officer, stating that the details of printers and publishers from phamphlets being distributed by his supporters are missing.
He said election officials had clearly informed all the candidates that the printed election material not bearing the details of the printers and publishers would be confiscated and a case against the candidate would be registered. Bali said that Anil Joshi’s supporters are distributing phamphelets which donot have such details and as such the BJP candidate is clearly violation the election norms. Bali said that as such phamplets are being used in large numbers, officials should have taken note of the violation.
He said he had filed a complaint after which the returning officer called both the parties. “Instead, the RO should have got the facts of the complaint verified on his own. I was called to his office and asked to give a statement in front of the opposite party. On the one hand, the administration claims that names of the informers would not be revealed and on the other hand, I was brought face to face with the supporters of BJP canddiate,” rued Bali. — TNS
