A candidate from the Punjab Front, Jagtar Singh Gill, is contesting Atttari constituency to save ‘Jawani’ and ‘Kisani’ (youth and farmers). Jagtar, who is 32-year-old, is the youngest among the contestants from his consistency.
Earlier, he had association with Indian Against Corruption Campaign led by Ann Hazare. Later, he joined Aam Adami Party (AAP) in 2014. Due to ideological differences he left the AAP in 2014. Now, he is contesting on a ticket of the Punjab Front led by Dr Dharmvir Gandi, MP from Patiala.
“We have been fighting against royal politicians. It’s a fight between the people, who have wealth and those, who have truthfulness. The Congress and SAD have been looting the state from the past several decades. The natives of border villages have been residing in pitiable conditions. Politicians of main stream parties never even visit these areas,” said Gill.
Talking about issues of his constituency, Gill said, “Unemployment is major issue in the area. Educated youth has no work. The successive governments have failed to establish industry in the region. Policies do not favour the common man. Farmers and labourers are facing tough time due to demonetisation.”
Introducing a new trend in polity, Gill has been giving an affidavit to voters that if someone sells drugs, take bribe or there was any crime against woman then he would be responsible for the same.
“We want a major change in the system. The MLA should be responsible for wrong doing in his area. We have come with 14 such proposals in our manifesto,” he added.
Gill is a resident of Khabbe Rajputra village. His family is a victim of terrorism. His mother is class fourth employee in a government office.
