Cop booked for sheltering criminal

Constable Amandeep Singh of Verowal Darapur village, who is posted in Amritsar, has been booked under Sections 212 and 216 of the IPC by Verowal police station for reportedly harbouring anti-social elements.

The police commissioner’s office has written to the Tarn Taran SSP, informing that the accused gave shelter to a person wanted by the Amritsar police in connection with a case registered under Sections 302, 307 and 506. The accused is absconding, the police said, adding that efforts were on to nab the “errant” cop.
