Councillors demand shifting of dairies

Mayor Karamjit Singh Rintu held a meeting with councillors of the Central constituency and listened to their problems here on Thursday. They demanded replacement of the broken sewage manhole covers, defunct street lights and removal of dairies from the area.

Deputy Mayor Younus Kumar, councillors Vikas Soni, Mahesh Khanna, Tahir Sah and others expressed their views at the meeting.

Besides manhole covers and street lights, the councillors highlighted the issues of encroachments, potholed roads, stray cattle, pigs and dog menace.

Councillor Vikas Soni said the dairies should be removed from the constituency.

“Sewage lines are blocked due to the discharge of dung from the dairies. Desilting of sewage is a major challenge for the MC. Dairies should be removed to address the issue,” said Soni.

Mayor Karamjit Singh Rintu gave instructions to officials to address the issues. He assured the councillors that there was no scarcity of funds for the development work.

Officials of several departments were present in the meeting.
