CPI general secretary Bant Singh Brar has called upon the factions of the Left parties to unite against the right wing BJP. He said he gracefully welcomed the verdict given by the countrymen in favour of the NDA.

“A right wing party, irrespective of its allegiance to any religion, spell disaster for a nation as it tends to split the people on religious lines. India being a multi-religious, multi-ethnicity, multi-linguistic and multi-cultural nation, its citizens need to guard its ethos. It is alarming to see Sadhvi Pragya hailing killer of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation,” he said.

“Equally important is to watch the pro-corporate policies of Narendra Modi-led Central Government as it is promoting contract hiring and minimising the employment opportunities,” he said.

Responding to a question, he said the cadre of the Left parties was intact in West Bengal and it did not join the BJP. Accepting the poor show of the communist parties in the country, he held absence of unity among them responsible for the downtrend.

He said the same thought was shared during the two-day national execute meeting of the CPI concluded at Delhi on May 28.
