Dr Navjot Kaur Sidhu, Chief Parliamentary Secretary (CPS), Health & Family Welfare, Punjab, today met Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar and raised the issue of the Army’s restriction around the Vallah ammunition dump.

There have been restriction orders by the Army that no construction could be done within 1,000 yards periphery of the depot.

He said due to these orders of the Army, the development of Vallah and its surrounding areas had come to a halt.

“The development of Amritsar’s main vegetable and fruit market has also been hampered. If relaxation is given by the Defence Ministry, it will be a big relief to residents in the vicinity of the ammunition depot,” she said.
