Harnam Singh Khalsa termed the 1984 episode as Sikh genocide and criticised the Congress for the same.

An event to observe the day was also organised at the Akal Takht. Taksal leaders stated that the massive gathering at Mehta event proved that Damdami Taksal was pivotal to Sikh Panth.

SAD general secretary and former cabinet minister Bikram Singh Majitha said the government should make all documents and files related to the attack on Akal Takht public. He also criticised the Congress and then PM Indira Gandhi while holding them responsible for the attack.

Delhi Committee’s former president Manjit Singh GK, who is off late at loggerheads with SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal, also attended the event and lauded the sacrifices of Damdami Taksal.
