She was a housewife a few months ago and now she’s a star. Hardeep Khatri, the 33-year-old winner of Dance India Dance (DID) Super Moms from Mumbai, says she did it for her family, her two-year-old son. On her brief visit to the Golden Temple along with her family, Hardeep thanked the almighty for her success.
“I was always a dancer, when I started my career as a freestyle choreographer in Mumbai. I worked in several Bollywood films on the sidelines and later as an assistant choreographer to Vaibhavi Merchant. But with marriage and later a child, dance took a backseat. Thanks to DID Super Moms, I now want to take it up full time again,” said excited Hardeep.
The competition did not scare her a bit during her stint on the show. Hardeep said her only motivation was her child. “I wanted my son to feel proud of me. He was always present when I performed and I could see the excitement on his face during my performances. Of course, my husband was my biggest support as he took care of our son when I was busy shooting for hours,” she added.
Never trained professionally as a dancer, Hardeep’s only expertise came from working as a backstage dancer. She says, “When you work in Bollywood, you get to learn a lot on the sets. I know classical, semi-classical, freestyle and Bollywood dancing. My advantage on the show was my confidence.” Hardeep wants to pursue professional choreography now. She wants to direct Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh.
