The craze for dance is touching new heights among youngsters in tbe city.

Pankaj Vig of Pankaj and Preeti Dance Academy feels that the craze has gone up due to the recent reality shows besides digital platforms. Many people are becoming popular through digital platforms.

He says, “Earlier, people lacked platforms, but now there are various platforms to showcase one’s talent. There is also a huge demand for online tutorial. We have also entered the space.”

“Mobile applications have not only given a platform to present one’s skill, but also learn from others. This is the best platform for kids as they can improve their expressions and steps by searching online, learning through videos on mobile applications, added Raman and Poonam of Step in Rhythm Dance Studio.

Besides, many are taking up dance, such as Zumba and Bhangra, to get a better shape and a healthy lifestyle.“I get bored often. A change in fitness routine can spark the mood. I have been using youtube videos to learn dancing and enjoy a new fitness regime,” said Megha, a fitness freak.

Meanwhile, a number of events were held to mark World Dance Day on Sunday.

Around 40 students from Kala Rashmi Academy participated in the special two-day event at Virsa Vihar to mark World Dance Day. Students performed different art forms such as classical, western among others.
