Durgiana panel pegs budget at Rs 20 cr

AMRITSAR: The Sri Durgiana Committee presented its budget of Rs 19.62 crore at a meeting in the temple complex here today. The committee has proposed to spend a major part of the amount on the renovation of old temples and the cleaning of the sarovar.

The Sri Durgiana Committee presented its budget of Rs 19.62 crore at a meeting in the temple complex here today. The committee has proposed to spend a major part of the amount on the renovation of old temples and the cleaning of the sarovar.

Harish Taneja, general secretary the committee, stated that old temples in the Durgiana Mandir complex need renovation, so they have allocated the budget for this work.

The total income of Durgiana Temple is 10.59 crore during the past one year.

The committee will conduct kar sewa to clean the sarovar on the Durgiana Mandir premises.

It has planned to spend Rs 50 lakh on the construction of a silver gate to the entry of the temple. Similarly, Rs 50 lakh has been allocated for the renovation of Bara Hanuman Mandir, Rs 1 crore for Raja Teja Singh Mandir, Rs 50 lakh for Durgiana Mal Mandir and Rs 60 lakh for Ved Katha Bhawan. The New Langar Bahawan would be constructed with RS 30 lakh and a canopy would be installed at the bridge of Durgiana Temple with Rs 25 lakh.

The committee also proposed to spend Rs 50 lakh on a medical laboratory, being run by the committee. As many as Rs 10 lakh has been allocated for the Ved Pathshala and Rs 5 lakh for the Sanskrit college. The electrical fittings at the temple would cost Rs 25 lakh.

Apart from this, the committee would construct a temple at New Amritsar at a cost of Rs 25 lakh. A memorial to martyrs would be constructed with Rs 80 lakh.

Harish Taneja, general secretary, Sri Durgiana Committee, stated, “During last one year we have constructed a 28 rooms centrally Air conditioned Yatari Niwas at Gol Bagh, outside the railway station. We have spent approximately Rs 1.72 crore and installed a model of the temple at the railway station at a cost of Rs 9 lakh”.
