Sri Durgiana Committee is all set to install a model of Durgiana Temple at the Attari-Wagah joint check post. The model is being prepared at a cost of Rs 10 lakh.
The construction and installation of the model was kept under the budgetary provision during the fiscal year 2014-15.
The committee, in the current year’s budget estimate of Rs 15.54 crore, has earmarked Rs 15 lakh for the models of Durgiana Temple. These models are intended to be displayed at the railway station and at Attari-Wagah joint check post.
It has outsourced the task of preparing the model to artisan Avtar Singh, who prepared a model of the Golden Temple. The model is about to be completed.
Avtar Singh said he got the model of the temple finished with the help of 8 skilled artisans. It took about three months to prepare the model with acrylic and gold plated material. It weighs around 80 kg and is 5’x6’ in size. It would be placed on a four-ft high pedestal. Its five domes are covered with 5 tola gold worth Rs 4 lakh.
Members of the committee said all efforts were on to meet all other budgetary proposals. They include setting up of a laboratory, which will have MRI, CT scan, X-ray machine and multiple tests facility, at a cost of Rs 2 crore, gold plating of the domes of Lakshmi Narain Temple that will cost Rs 1.25 crore, Rs 1 crore has been earmarked to complete the under construction Yatri Niwas (Inn) near the railway station (Gol Bagh side), Rs 5 lakh for the modernisation of Bhog Bhandar, a subsidised sweatmeat shop inside the Durgiana Temple complex.
