Residents of Bangla Rai village, 35 km from here, falling under the Patti Sadar police station, panicked when there was indiscriminate firing among gangsters with illegal weapons after an argument at a function last night.

However no causality has been reported nor has any gangster been arrested till now. As many as eight gangsters have been booked under Sections 336, 307, 148 and 149 of the IPC.

Investigating officer ASI Kirpal Singh said the accused gangsters had been identified as Gurchet Singh Chetu of Bangla Rai village, his brother Gurdas Singh, Harpreet Singh and his brother Gurpreet Singh, Bikramjit Singh, Jatinder Singh alias Hainker, Daljit Singh alias Jalad and Shamsher Singh, residents of different villages. — OC
