Ex-Army chief JJ Singh visits govt school

Former Indian Army chief JJ Singh, who recently joined the Shiromani Akali Dal (Taksali), visited Shaheed Harjinder Singh Government Senior Secondary School, Sohal, on Sunday. He encouraged students to live up to their true potential.
The former Army chief, while addressing the students, highlighted the importance of education and motivated them to reach higher positions. “Serve the nation through armed forces like National Defence Academy or Military Academies in which selection is highly competitive and entry to these academies is based on merit,” he added.
He called upon the students to focus on science and math subjects as the modern defence forces were getting more hi-tech. “There are no shortcuts to success in life, he added.
Singh advised teachers and parents not to force children to adopt medical, engineering or any other profession but to encourage them for development of their skills and intrinsic talent to excel in life.
He distributed books to students and assured of all possible help for the students of weaker section.
