The Post-Graduate Department of Computer Science of BBK DAV College for Women organised a guest lecture on ‘Image processing using MATLAB’.
Chetan Marwaha, a senior programmer, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Guru Nanak Dev University, delivered a lecture to the students of M Sc (computer science) and M Sc (internet studies). Kiran Gupta, head of the department, welcomed the experts.
The expert started the lecture with the introduction of image and the image processing techniques such as image enhancement, image restoration and image segmentation.
He practically demonstrated the reading of an image, complement of an image, intensity variation of an image, histogram processing of an image, RGB to grey scale conversion and display of an image using MATLAB.
He also discussed gamma transformation of an image and how to find a threshold value of an image.
He concluded by saying that image processing when implemented using MATLAB is much easier to understand and perform.
The resource person satisfactorily answered the queries of the students.
College principal Dr Neelam Kamra appreciated the department for organising such an interesting and informative lecture.
