Fire at Kangra Colony house; electronic goods gutted

Amritsar, May 20

A fire erupted at a residence in Ram Nagar area in Kangra Colony on the Batala road here on Sunday evening. The fire engulfed the upper two floors of the house in no time, damaging electronic goods worth lakhs of rupees.

Residents said the fire brigade took more than half an hour to reach the spot due to which a considerable damage was caused to the house owner. The fire was so massive that it took around an hour for the fire staff to douse the flames. A short circuiting is stated to be the reason behind the incident.

Anuj Sharma, a resident, said the house belonged to Keemti Lal and his brother Prince who had been running an electronic goods shop at Johanson market inside Hall Gate area. They used to live on the ground floor while the upper two floors were turned into a godown. The fire started at around 6 pm.

Electronic goods worth lakhs of rupees were gutted by fire, it has been learnt.

Fire brigade personnel were still present at the spot till filing of this report.
