Five members of a gang arrested, sharp-edged weapons recovered

The Majitha police today arrested five members of a gang that is involved in various theft and snatching incidents.
The police have also recovered sharp-edged weapons and three motorcycles from them.
SSP Harpal Singh said a police party led by DSP Hardev Singh and Inspector Balkar Singh of the Kathunagal police station had arrested the accused.
The accused were identified as Tejpal Singh of Bagha, Pargat Singh of Babowal, Paramjit Singh of Mattewal, Gurjant Singh of Niberwind and Gurmukh Singh of Gadarjada village.
He said besides three motorcycles, the police had also recovered sharp-edged weapons, including a sword and an axe, from them.
The police said acting on the information provided by the accused, eight stolen bikes had been recovered.
The SSP said the accused had admitted their involvement in 16 theft and snatching cases.
Harpal Singh said the police had initiated a drive to check crime in rural areas and the arrest of gang members was a big achievement for the police department.
