Gangster aide nabbed by OCCU

Organised Crime Control Unit (OCCU), constituted by the state government to nail notorious criminals, arrested a gangster having links with Vicky Gounder, Harry Chatha and Gopi Ghanshampuria following an encounter near Manawala here.

He was identified as Ranjodh Singh alias Rana of Sangharkot village in Tarn Taran while his accomplice Sahilpreet Singh of Goindwal managed to escape from the spot.

Sahilpreet was a notorious gangster wanted in around 18 criminal cases in Punjab. He was considered as right hand of Sukha Kahlwan, another notorious gangster, who was shot dead by his rival gang. Sahil is now attached with Vickey Gounder gang.

In a press note issued here today, Vavinder Mahajan, an official of OCCU, said that the police had received a tip-off that Rana and Sahil were involved in providing arms to gangsters from Delhi and Meerut. It was informed that they were coming to Amritsar from Delhi in car DL-10-CB-0988 after taking a consignment of arms.
