Family members of notorious gangster Rana Kandowalia today claimed that he had left all illegal work and wanted to return to the main stream.

In a press conference here today, SAD leader and sarpanch of Kandowalia village Satyavarnjit Singh, who is also father of Rana Kandowalia, said his son was booked by the police in two cases and he was presently out on bail.

The Special Task Force (STF) had raided their residence and claimed to have arrested Kandowalia’s accomplice Swarn Singh along with two pistols and a car on Wednesday evening. The STF had claimed that Kandowalia and his gang members had gathered at his home and were planning some crime.

Satyavaranjit alleged that the Punjab police was harassing them. He said, “In case my son is wanted in any case, they should tell us. We will produce him before them.”

He said police teams raided their house in civil clothes and indulged in firing while Kandowalia did not fire even a single shot.

He alleged that the police took away Rs 1.70 lakh cash, besides gold ornaments from their residence. They also damaged CCTV cameras and took away the entire system, he added.
