The police arrested two gangsters on Wednesday. Identified as Harmanjit Singh of Joura village in Tarn Taran and Jobanpreet Singh of Navan Pind, Mehta road, they have been accused of opening fire at the residence of a murder accused, Sunny, on March 19.
A .12 rifle, a .12 bore pistol, six live cartridges, a car and a Bullet motorcycle used in the crime have been seized.
According to police investigation so far, the accused had got instructions from their chief Jagroshan Hundal lodged in the jail for attack on Sunny’s house located at the 88 Futa Road. At that time, the police had booked 12 persons, including notorious gangsters Raja Kanwada and Jagroshan Hundal.
Police officials said Harmanjit and Jobanpreet were accompanied by Harpreet Singh of Raipura Kalan, Diljan of Burj Rai Ke, Manna of Buraj village, Mohit Chaudhry of Harike and Rajinder Kumar of Mustafabad at the time of incident. Raids are on to nab them.
Both Kanwada and Roshan are members of infamous Jaggu Bhagwanpuria gang while Sunny was an aide of slain gangster Vicky Gounder. Gounder and Bhagwanpuria gangs had an old rivalry.
The case was registered on the statement of Malkiat Raj, father of Sunny. Malkiat’s two sons Sanjay Kumar and Sunny are lodged in jail in connection with a murder case. He said the accused had entered his house and fired several gun shots at around 11 pm on March 19. They were asking about Sunny. According to Malkiat, he later came to know that the accused had clashed with his son and threatened him to kill his family. Though no loss of life and property was reported, the accused had fired around over a dozen gunshots.
The Sadar police have registered a case under Sections 307, 452, 427, 148, 149 of the IPC and 25, 27, 54, 59 under the Arms Act against the accused, including Kanwada and Jagroshan.
