Bibi Ranbir Kaur Dhillon, wife of late Gurdial Singh Dhillon, speaker of the Lok Sabha in 1969-71, passed away at the age of 95 at a Delhi hospital on Friday. The body, wrapped in Congress flag, was cremated at Panjwar village, 20 km from here, on Saturday. The pyre was lit by a 12-year-old family member of the deceased.
Bibi Ranbir Kaur Dhillon, after the death of her husband Gurdial Singh Dhillon on March 23, 1992, had shifted to Panjwar village from Delhi to look after the agriculture and other property of the family. Due to her old age, she was seen mostly at home. Her health deteriorated on Friday. She was sent to a Delhi hospital where she breathed her last. Congress MLA Dharambir Agnihotri was present during her cremation. — OC
