Prof Shweta Shenoy, head, MYAS-GNDU, department of sports sciences and medicine, inaugurated various gyms at different locations on the university campus on Monday.
As many as six outdoor gymnasiums have been set up at the various locations in the university, costing Rs 30 lakh.
Dean Academic Affairs Sarbjot Singh Behl, Registrar Karanjit Singh Kahlon, Dean Students Welfare Hardeep Singh, Sports Director Sukhdev Singh, campus sports in-charge Amandeep Singh, Kanwar Mandip Singh Lodi Nangal, Assistant Director, Sports, Dr Shalini Behl, Jantidar Kaur, Varinder Kaur, Ravinder Kumar, Satnam Singh Deol, Paramvir Singh Malli and wardens of various other hostels were also present.
Jaspal Singh Sandhu, Vice-Chancellor, Guru Nanak Dev University, said, “The gyms will be beneficial not only for students, but also for the residents of the campus. The installation of outdoor gyms will help students do exercise as per their convenience.”
