However, the drama reached its pinnacle when the issue reached to the Congress (urban) president, Jugal Kishore Sharma, who along with others came there and sought action against the accused cops who had thrashed the boy. He started demanding immediate suspension of the policemen who had beat up the boy and the woman’s brother.

He also reproached the matter to the Civil Lines SHO, Parvesh Chopra, who had reached there by that time, it is learnt. Police officials later pacified them by assuring them of taking appropriate action against the accused cops.

A Chheharta resident and the brother of the woman, who works as a nurse in a hospital, said that his sister was married to Nikhil, a resident of the Rattan Singh Chowk area, around four years ago. He said the couple did not enjoy cordial relations. He said today he received information that Nikhil had brought his sister to the Ranjit Avenue police chowki following a dispute. He said when he reached there, Nikhil started a quarrel and physically assaulted him.

On the other hand, Nikhil said a few days ago, he had brought his wife back from her parents’ home where she had gone after a dispute with him. He said this afternoon, he received a call from his brother who told him that his wife was sitting with some other person in the park. He said he went to the hospital where she worked. He came to know that she had left the hospital for some work and would return in the evening. He said he immediately came to the park and found her with her lover.

However, she alleged that her husband physically assaulted her while the boy works in the same hospital where she was employed.

Chopra said he had received the complaint from both the parties and further investigations were under progress. He said the role of cops in thrashing the boy was being looked into.
