The Indian Institute of Management, Amritsar, welcomed its fourth batch of Postgraduate Programme in Management on Sunday. Neeladree Nandy, vice president, Business Development Petrochemical, Reliance Industries Limited, was the chief guest.
The inauguration programme began with the traditional lamp lighting ceremony by the chief guest along with Prof C Raju, PGP chairperson Prof M Geetha, placement chairperson Prof Arun Kaushik, student affairs chairperson Prof Mahima Gupta and students of third and fourth batches.
Prof Raju said, “IIM is a place where we do not just study but also learn because of the unique pedagogy that enables an individual to learn irrespective of their pace of learning and style.”
Prof Debashis Chatterjee, Director, IIM, Kozhikode (IIM-K) and the Mentor-Director, IIM, Amritsar, also sent his best wishes for the new batch. Sharing the congratulatory message from the Dr Chatterjee, Prof Raju said that the mentor director was unwell and therefore could not be present in the ceremony.
Nandy emphasised on ‘curiosity’ the natural instinct of a human being, which serves as a driver for gaining knowledge. Sharing the popular stories of Newton watching an apple fall and Columbus going on a voyage in search of a new land, he called upon the students to never let their thirst of learning die and to keep on asking questions in order to make most of the opportunity of studying at IIM, Amritsar.
Nandy also shared his personal experiences from his student life at IIM, Kozhikode, as a part of its fifth batch.
Tarun Budhwani, a student of third batch, motivated his juniors and asked them to try different things and strive to transform themselves without the fear of failure because even if they fall on their face, they will still be moving forward.
Mohit Chaubey, a student from the new batch, made the maiden speech from fourth batch and urged students to utilise together the available resources to the maximum and push hard towards personal growth.
