Consumers of the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) are a harassed lot as all automatic bill-payment machines, officially called Sewak machines, have been out of order for the past nearly a fortnight.

These machines installed by the PSPCL at six different points in the city continue to remain defunct. They are installed on Malviya Road, Batala Road, Ranjit Avenue, Sultanwind Road, and two of these at PSPCL’s Hall Gate office.

In the absence of this facility, power consumers are having a tough time queuing up outside the bill counters to pay their bills.

PSPCL officials said an error in the server closed the functioning of all automatic machines. They advised power consumers to pay their electricity bills online. For availing themselves of this service, the consumers have to create an ID after clicking the ‘online payment’ window on the PSPCL website.
