Amritsar: Young buddies of Global Institutes displayed their talent during Global Football League Season 2 held at the campus of Global Institutes on Friday. Dr BS Chandi, chairman, Global Institutes, inaugurated the tournament. In a knockout tournament, 10 teams from different departments participated. In the first half of the day, five knockout matches were played and in the second half two semifinals and a final match was played. In the first semifinal played between the teams of diploma and BTTM and BHMC, the diploma team won by 4-1, while in the second semi final MCA/BCA defeated pharmacy and MLS 3-1. In the final, MCA/BCA defeated diplomas 2-1 and won the tournament. TNS
Youth held for stalking minor
Amritsar: The Rural police have arrested a youth for allegedly stalking and using criminal force with intent to outrage modesty of a girl. The alleged accused has been identified as Manpreet Singh of Tarsikka, who lives in the neighbourhood of the victim. He was booked under Sections 354 (assault or use of criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 354 A (1) (assaulting to a girl for disrobing or compelling her to be naked), 354-D (stalking) and 506 of the IPC and Sections 8 and 12 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offence Act. He was arrested following a complaint by 16-year-old victim’s mother. TNS
SGPC defers meet on Sikh Library
Amritsar: The SGPC has deferred its meeting pertaining to the Sikh Reference Library. Earlier, the meeting was scheduled for September 10. Shiromani Committee additional secretary and sub-committee coordinator Sukhdev Singh Bhurakona said that due to administrative reasons and failure in reaching of some witnesses the meeting was postponed. He said new date would be issued soon. TNS
