A total of 428 students from various departments of Guru Nanak Dev University have been placed with internationally renowned Indian multinational IT companies like Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Capgemini, Tech Mahindra, Nagarro, John Deere, SAP Labs, Infogain and Code Brew. These students have been recruited as software engineer trainees.
Dr Palwinder Singh, in-charge placement, said a 60-member team of TCS visited the university campus for recruitment. TCS conducted online tests for 730 students. After online test, technical and HR interviews, TCS offered job to 233 students.
The post graduate students have been offered an annual salary package of Rs 3.34 lakhs per annum and under graduate students have been offered Rs 3.18 lakh per annum.
In another placement drive, a group of senior company officials of Capgemini, Hyderabad, visited the university and conducted online aptitude test, group discussion and interview for students of IT courses. They selected 102 students at a salary package of Rs 3.05 lakh per annum. Another company, Nagarro selected 10 students – two students at Rs 6 lakh per annum, five students at Rs 5 lakh per annum and three students at Rs 4 lakh per annum and companies like Infogain selected eight students at Rs 3.50 lakh per annum while John Deere selected seven students at Rs 5.01 lakh per annum. Code Brew selected five students at Rs 3 lakh per annum, Clair Volex selected two students, one at Rs 5 lakh per annum and another at Rs 4 lakh per annum, Status Brew selected three students at Rs 4.20 lakh per annum.
The selected students are from 2016-17 batch of B.Tech, computer science, B.Tech. – electronics, MCA and M.Tech. from the main campus as well as the regional campuses of Jalandhar, Gurdaspur, Sathiala, Sultanpur Lodhi and constituent colleges of GNDU. These students shall join their jobs in July 2017 after their final exam.
Dr Amit Chopra, Assistant Placement Officer, said that ValeurHR company has selected one GNDU student Mahinder Pal Shori of MBA for two weeks training at its Singapore office.
In total, 14 students have been selected as student intern – R&D and Data Analytics Centre Programme. These 14 students are being paid Rs 10,000 per month stipend during their stay at GNDU. Prof Ajaib Singh Brar, Vice-Chancellor, congratulated the students on getting job offers from multinational companies.
