A Japanese cardiologist, who is in the city to perform cardiac surgeries, claimed that patients with 100 per cent blockage of the heart artery can resume normal life through non-invasive techniques within a few days. Dr Kenji Kawajiri, a specialized intervention cardiologist from Japan, said in developed countries, open heart surgery was being avoided, especially when there was 100 per cent blockage of arteries.

He said non-invasive procedure like antegrade and retrograde stenting, with which blocked arteries could be opened safely, and a stent could be used, had been developed.
