The city police have booked four persons for allegedly duping a woman of Rs 9.50 lakh on the pretext of getting her a railway job. The accused have been identified as Pandit Rakesh Sharma of Hargobind Avenue, Chheharta, Jagtar Singh of Nisoke village, Harjinder Singh of Kalanaur and Palwinder Singh of Nava Pind.
Complainant Japaneet Kaur informed the Majitha Road police station that the accused promised to get her appointed as a clerk in the railway and demanded Rs 9.50 lakh for the same. Later, they gave her a fake appointment letter and asked her to join the duty. When she visited the railways office to join the duty, she got to know that the latter was fake.
Sub-Inspector Jhirmal Singh, investigating officer, said a case under Sections 420, 465, 467, 468, 471 and 120-B of the IPC was registered against the accused. Further investigation is going on. No arrest has been made so far.
The complainant has demanded swift action for recovery of her money besides the arrest of the accused at the earliest.
