Amritsar, February 15

The Khalsa College Governing Council (KCGC) has drawn a flak for its failure to check dress code of a female protagonist during the audition for selection of children for programme to be aired on a private satellite channel. Objection was raised over actress Sana Saeed, who came skimpily clad at historic Khalsa College, for the event.

As the auditions were underway some security guards and Gursikhs objected on her wearing skimpy outfit on the Khalsa College campus, set up with the objective of imparting modern education along with Sikh traditions, ethics and moral values.

Thereafter, the actress covered herself with a shawl. However, she took off the shawl as her turn came for shooting, which again irked the devouts.

Panthic Talmel Sangathan spokesman Jaswinder Singh, said such thing on the campus was bad in taste as they considered Khalsa College equivalent to a gurdwara. He said exposing young students, in this impressionable age, to such acts would set a wrong precedent. He urged the KCGC to carry out proper checking before permitting shooting on the college campus.

KCGC is not new to controversy. Earlier, the management had drawn flak for permitting shooting of the film “Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi” in which actor Shah Rukh Khan was allegedly found smoking in the presence of students on the college premises in 2008.

When contacted, Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina, KCGC, general secretary, said he was not aware of the programme being held at the college as it was under the domain of Principal. He said he would get the matter probed as it had been brought to his notice. He added that act of smoking by Shah Rukh Khan on the college campus could not be proved.
