Amritsar: A kirtan darbar was organised on the occasion of Parkash Purab of Guru Harkrishan by the Chief Khalsa Diwan Charitable Society in the premises of Shri Guru Harkrishan Sen. Sec. Public School on Sunday. ‘Palki Sahib’ was brought to darbar hall by CKD president Nirmal Singh under the canopy of floral shower. A large number of devotees participated in the holy procession. TNS

Research paper presented

Amritsar: Pushpinder Walia, Principal, BBK DAV College for Women, presented a research paper entitled “When the Guru Calls…Golden Temple and the Coming of Age of Tourism in Amritsar” in an international conference organised on June 15-16 at Lucy Cavendish College, University of Cambridge. The paper focuses on how Golden Temple, the most sacred shrine of the Sikhs, has created shaped and transformed the city of Amritsar into one of the prominent tourist capitals of the country. She also chaired “The Journey Within: Aspects of Life, Art and Legacy in Liminal Progressions” session at the  conference. TNS

Students excel in GNDU exams  

Amritsar: Students of DAV College Amritsar bagged various merit positions in the GNDU  examinations, results of which were declared recently.  In BCA (semester-IV) Palika and Sourabh hold merit position and in PGDCA (semester II) Robinpreet Kaur bagged the third position in the university. Principal Rajesh Kumar congratulated the students for their extra ordinary performance in academics. Speaking on the occasion, he said the college was proud of their achievements and motivated them to keep it up. He also applauded the efforts of department of computer science and congratulated Prof Vikram Sharma and other faculty members of the department. Prof Sanjeev Dutta, Vivek Aggarwal, Puneet Sharma, Sunny Thakural, Naina Handa and Nidhi Kaushal also extended their heartiest congratulations to the toppers. TNS
