Kirtan darbar to mark ‘Parkash Purab’ of eighth Sikh master

Chief Khalsa Diwan Charitable Society will organise a kirtan darbar on the occasion of “Parkash Purab” of the eighth Sikh master Guru Harkrishan.

The kirtan darbar will be held on July 31 (Sunday) from 5 pm to 10:30 at Sri Guru Harkrishan Senior Secondary School, GT Road, on the occasion of Gurupurab.

While addressing mediapersons here today, Chief Khalsa Diwan (CKD) president Charanjit Singh Chadha said the society was dedicated to preserving the heritage and passing on religious values to the next generation.

Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh and Darbar Sahib Head Granthi Giani Jagtar Singh would also be present on the occasion.

Sikh exponents Bhai Joginder Singh Riar, Bhai Manpreet Singh Kanpuri, Sri Darbar Sahib Hazoori Ragi Bhai Ravinder Singh, Sri Badu Sahib Tadhi Jatha, Bibi Prabhjot Kaur and GT Road school jatha would render kirtan on the occasion.

SGPC president Avtar Singh, Baba Kashmir Singh Bhuri Wale, Baba Darshan Singh Gumtale Wale, Dr Balwant Singh Tung and Dr Hardas Singh will be honoured by the CKD for their services during the kirtan darbar. It will feature special theme of reflecting life of Guru Harkrishan, Sikh history, faith and culture.

Convener of kirtan darbar Tajinder Singh said, “The programme includes joint efforts, services and participation of members of Shri Amritsar Sewak Sabha Society, Waheguru Simran Sewa Society, Sri Sukhmani Sahib Sewa Society and Gurmat Satsung Sabha.”
